The marriage between Elohor and Owen Aisien is presently going through a turbulent time, reports say. And the reason for this is because of an allegation of infidelity hanging on the man of the house, Owen.

It was gathered that Elohor, owner of Beth Models, who is presently carrying their first child from the marriage, is bitter that her husband is also expecting another child from his mistress.

What is making her more bitter is that her husband’s mistress is getting pregnant for him the second time. And as they say, if ‘once’ is counted as ‘mistake’, what would ‘twice’ be called, ‘mistake’ too?

To add salt to her injury, she is getting rumour that her man is having an affair with another lady. News reportedly got to Elohor that her husband has already gone to the family of his babymama to discuss how she would move into his house as wife and this has allegedly weighed her down.

A middle-aged man from Bauchi, who embarked on a journey to Abuja on foot to attend the swearing-in ceremony of President Muhammadu Buhari on May 29, 2015, has been declared missing by the Bauchi State Police Command.

The missing person, Nurudeen Maimako, left Dass in Bauchi State on May 15, 2015, but unfortunately, he was not at the swearing-in ceremony held almost two weeks ago and has also not been seen by his family.

A press statement issued on Thursday in Bauchi by the state’s Police spokesman, Haruna Mohammed, said that, “On the 3/6/2015 at about 11:15am, one Muhammadu Hussaini, male, of Dass town, reported at Dass Divisional Police Headquarters, that on 15/5/2015 at about 6.00am, his son, one Nuruddeen Maimako, male and 38 years, left Dass on Foot Solidarity to attend the swearing in ceremony of President Muhammadu Buhari in Abuja.”

The statement stressed that, “Since then, his whereabouts is not known and all efforts made to locate him proved abortive.”

Mohammed explained in the statement that, “The last contact he (father) had with Maimako was when he (son) informed them that he was in Jos, Plateau State.

“Particulars of the son are: 1.50 metres tall, Jarawa by tribe, light in complexion and speaks English and Hausa fluently.

“Members of the public who know his whereabouts are to report at the nearest Police Station, or contact his father through GSM no 07051789119.”

Chairman of Silverbird Group, Ben Murray-Bruce, as well as other members of his family, has been accused of owning some suppliers of products worth millions of Naira.
It was reported that this came up as a result of the closure of the Ben Bruce family business called Lifestyle some years ago and efforts by the creditors to get their money have not yielded any meaningful result.

A senator representing Bayelsa State in the just inaugurated 8th National Assembly, Ben Murray-Bruce who is also the CEO of Silverbird Television has been accused of defaulting in the payment of suppliers millions of Naira, few years after the closure of Lifestyle, owned by the Ben Bruce family.

Lifestyle is a major shop that was involved in marketing of books, gift items, toys and other materials nationwide.

The suppliers, according to New Mail investigations, were owed in the process of supplying the various goods for sell in their Victoria Island, Lagos galleria and other locations across the country.

The suppliers, some of who borrowed huge funds from the banks to procure, import or produce the items before supplying them to Lifestyle became more frustrated when they learnt that the key officials of the company that were supposed to be attending to them had been forced to resign their appointments.

Consequently, the suppliers found it extremely difficult to establish contacts with people who can assist them to get paid, especially as it is also difficult to meet Ben Bruce and his brothers.

Our correspondent learnt that the suppliers have made several efforts, including visits, phone calls and text messages to officials of the company without success.

A Lagos based journalist and author of the book, the Niger Delta and Oil Politics, Udeme Akpan, confirmed in a telephone interview that he was not paid even after Lifestyle completed the marketing of his books.

“It is true that Lifestyle owed many suppliers, including myself before closing shop a few years ago. The officials of the company have not made any efforts to settle the debts which amount to some millions of Naira.

“I have been paying interest because the funds we used in producing the book were raised from a bank,” Udeme lamented.

Investigations revealed that the Ben Murray-Bruce and his brothers got themselves into the mess when they decided to delve into the business when New Metro, a South African company that was their tenant folded up mainly because of high operational cost and other reasons.

“Ben Bruce and his brothers probably thought their case would be different, especially as they would not need to pay rent because the property belongs to them. But they were mistaken. For inexplicable reasons, the business was not successful. They therefore decided to close shop,” a source familiar with the deal said.

When Lifestyle ran into troubled waters, just like New Metro, the suppliers were full of hopes that their funds would be recovered, especially as the company was reportedly sent text messages, seeking understanding of suppliers and promising that their debts would be settled.

However, after some time, the word of reassurance seized. No messages came and when some of the creditors paid visits to the Victoria Island, Lagos office of the company, most of them were shocked by what they heard and saw.

Udeme told New Mail that when he discovered that the usual reassuring messages were no longer coming, he decided to visit the office and again, according to him, the lady she met promised that his own payment would be made within weeks.

However, as week turns into month, he decided to put a call through to the office, but alas, the same lady that had assured him that “mine would be paid within weeks,” later informed him on telephone that she should not be approached again on the matter as she had since resigned from the company.

Since then, Udeme said that efforts to get paid have been fruitless; especially as “staff of other Ben Bruce have been very hostile to everyone who goes there to ask for payment.

“This is to say least most unfair, fraudulent and discourteous, especially coming from Ben Bruce who gives impression that he is committed to building a new Nigeria.

“Honestly, I am just wondering what value Ben Bruce and others would be adding to the National Assembly when they cannot show the best example in their own private life,” said an obviously enraged Udeme.

However, New Mail gathered that it is not only Ben Bruce that is at fault. According to further findings, New Metro also owed several other suppliers, including Udeme while in operation before it relocated back to South Africa.

A source told our correspondent that a company known as Balogun Badejo Consulting Limited, which specialises in human resources and management was selected to sell New Metro assets in Nigeria and used the proceeds to settle its liabilities or debts.

According to our investigations, authors and suppliers were invited to file their claims and provide necessary documents for eventual payment.

Most of the suppliers did, but rather than fulfilling its own part of the bargain, Balogun Badejo Consulting Limited, also reneged.

“I supplied all documents requested to process my payment and followed up with several visits. Its consultant, Ibrahim Showa kept on promising that I and others would be paid.

“But the company never did despite several visits and calls. It beats my imagination why a company like Balogun Badejo that should have respect for ethics and professionalism should have accepted to execute the task if it was not going to leave up to expectation,” Udeme stressed.

Aside from Balogun Badejo Consulting Limited and Ben Bruce, our correspondent also gathered that the University Bookshop, University of Port Harcourt, Rivers State is also involved in what is fast turning out to be a fraudulent ring to deprive genuine entrepreneurs their legitimate earnings.

Udeme said that after selling all the books supplied to University in 2010, the former bookshop manager, Jonah Ode who was directly involved in selling the books has not paid for them despite numerous visits and promises to do so.

Ode who is currently in the investment unit of the University has not been taking phone calls nor responds to text messages and the new management of the bookshop said it cannot pay as Ode did not include that as part of his handover notes.

“From all indications, Ode is fraudulent. I don’t know why the Professor Joseph Atubokiki Ajienka-led institution should allow such a character to remain in the system. He has seriously portrayed the university in bad light,” Udeme said.

However, several efforts made to speak with the accused parties have yielded no result. Several calls and text messages to Senator Ben Bruce were not picked, returned or replied to, while the Ibrahim Showa’s number was not going through.

Pastor in charge of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, Trinity Chapel, UK, Sola Fola-Alade, has announced his departure from the church, after 23 years.

The handsome man of God disclosed that he was leaving RCCG to fulfill the call of God to take up another “assignment.”

Pastor Fola-Alade, in a Facebook post, stated that he has also received the blessing of the General Overseer of the church, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, to leave the church.

As the above scripture states, life is lived in seasons and there is a God appointed season to fulfill every purpose and discharge every assignment that God gives.

It is with this in mind and a heavy heart that I announce the end of over 22 years of being a committed and proud member of the RCCG and close to a 20 year season of being the Pastor of the wonderful RCCG Trinity Chapel family.

God has given me a new assignment to fulfill, and it requires that I step out of the RCCG system to fulfill it.

Once God spoke to me about starting this new work, I have fasted over an extended period and prayed again and again; and God has reiterated and confirmed it in many different ways. I also prayed carefully and sought counsel and confirmation from my Spiritual Mentors and Elders because I fully appreciate the gravity of this decision.

Informing my Spiritual Father

Last week I travelled to Lagos, Nigeria to have a father and son talk with my spiritual father, Pastor E.A. Adeboye, in order to inform him of what God spoke to me. After I shared my heart with him and my conviction about what God has told me, Daddy G.O. blessed me and released me.

He was very gracious and warm to me and reassured me that I will always remain his son.

A Tribute to God’s General

In my personal estimation Pastor E.A. Adeboye is the greatest and yet the simplest man of God on earth today.

I personally believe I would have fulfilled destiny if I can accomplish only a fraction of what he has achieved in his lifetime. I continue to honour, respect and esteem highly.

The same way I left my natural fathers house, but I have remained his son, I leave the RCCG family that is led by my spiritual father pastor Adeboye but remain his son.

Leaving a Family

I will greatly miss the RCCG, as it has been my family and support system for just under 23 years.

I cannot over emphasise the instruction and impartation I have received from this spiritual lineage over the years, especially in the area of holiness, integrity and simplicity – traits that will continue to mark my ministry and work.

In closing

I am so proud of what God has done with 6 people and £250 and that in all the time that |Trinity Chapel has existed, neither I, as its leader or Trinity Chapel, as a church, by the grace of God, has experienced scandal of any sort be it financial, moral or otherwise.

It is difficult leaving what has been my family for close to 23 years and the church and people I have pastored for just under 20 years. but i am also excited at the thought of pursuing God’s new assignment for my life and taking more territory for the kingdom of God.

**ICPC Recovers Money From Him

Aproko247 has learnt that about N4,000,000 (Four Million Naira) alleged to have been fraudulently cornered by a former Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Idi-Araba, Prof Akin Asibugu has been recovered.

A petition was written by an insider to the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) alleging that Prof Asibugu had approved and paid himself the sum of N4,016,562.45 as allowance for accrued leave.

After receiving the petition, the ICPC swung into action to investigate the matter.

The Commission posted on its website on June 15, 2015 that it has finally recovered the money from the former CMD and paid it back into the purse of LUTH.

“In the course of investigations, the Heads of the Federal Civil Service Commission and the National Income, Salaries and Wages Commission responded to inquiries by ICPC operatives and faulted this conduct, averring that the payments contravened provisions of the Public Service Rules and Financial Regulations,” ICPC wrote on its platform.

“By this conduct, the former CMD allegedly committed administrative malfeasance and abused his position as a public officer. He was therefore asked to refund the money into the Recovery Account of ICPC.

“He complied promptly, and the Commission has since returned the money to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Idi-Araba,” the Commission disclosed.

Much has been written on the activities of this new kid on the bloc in the world of wheeling dealing, Dapo Balogun, popularly known as Jojo, that the talk on the lips of the high and mighty in the last administration of Goodluck Jonathan is that the fear of Jojo was the beginning of wisdom.

What is known and perhaps the most topical story in the social circle is how this young, suave and urbane businessman, said to be in his early 30s, reportedly organized the pilfering of a whooping sum of $100 Million from the bedroom of the immediate former Petroleum Minister, Diezani Alison Madueke through her house help, one Macmillan, who was given $5 Million commission from this booty by the mastermind, Dapo.

While it is no longer news that Macmillian stole a whooping sum of $100million from his boss, it still remains a mystery how Diezani was unable to prosecute him even after he was arrested by the police.

Diezani did not only refuse to prosecute her staff, but also failed to honour police invitations to explain why such a huge amount of money was discovered in her home in the first place.

After Macmillian was arrested and subjected to the interrogative techniques of Nigerian policemen upon deportation from Dubai, where he escaped to in order to enjoy his loot, he disclosed that his cut from the stolen sum was actually $5 million; the remaining $95 million, he claimed was carted away by Dapo.

Dapo was said to have been arrested initially by the Lagos State Police Command, but was allegedly released, when they could not publicly charged him with the alleged offence.

He was later re-arrested by the Anambra Police Command, which accused him of kidnapping, an allegation said to have been cooked up to cover up the main issue so that he could cough out the money and let off the hook eventually, but this was not to be.

The unrepentant Dapo hurriedly contracted the best lawyers he could get and blatantly told the police to do their jobs by asking Diezani how $100 million magically appeared in her home.

However, the former Minister never showed up to the police in relation to Dapo’s claim.

While it baffled many how Deizani got involved in such shady dealings with her cook and Dapo, it is pertinent to know that the chummy Dapo is a close friend of Haruna Momoh, Managing Director of the Petroleum Products Marketing Company (PPMC).

Dapo reportedly banked on Haruna’s close relationship with Diezani and got access into the exclusive circuit of Diezani boys and business associates.

During his interrogation, Dapo sang like a bird and a source disclosed that he dared the police hierarchy to prosecute him, but the complainant must be made public, this was said to have given the investigators a setback in their attempt to establish a prima facie case against the young moneybag, an order said to be from above was given for his immediate release.

Dapo, a source revealed, later heard through Momoh that Diezani was in need of a cook; he recommended Macmillian to Momoh who in turn introduced Macmillian to Diezani, our investigations however, revealed that this might not be true.

Macmillian, we were told diligently served Diezani for months, earned her trust and finally got access into her bedroom to steal the sum of $100 million at Dapo’s bidding.

Macmillian alleged that after he stole the money, Dapo gave him a cut of $5 million and arranged for him to escape to Lagos by a private jet.

The cook later ran to Dubai in United Arab Emirates, UAE, to unwind and enjoy his share of the stolen money. He was later deported to Nigeria after he exceeded the maximum number of days he was allowed to stay in the county.

On getting to Lagos, he was identified by the police as a wanted fugitive and was arrested.

The police were said to have contacted Diezani and informed her that her cook and Dapo had been arrested and that she was needed at the police station to respond to Dapo’s claims, Diezani reportedly told them off and surprisingly asked them to release Dapo and Macmillan, stating that she was no longer interested in pressing charges for the theft of $100 million.

According to her, the stolen money does not top the chat of the things she has to worry about or deal with.

First Weekly checks revealed that Dapo lives an ostentatious lifestyle and Nicon Hilton Hotel, Abuja is his permanent place of abode, this is where he lives to the fullest and plays host to the high and mighty, who desires one favour or the other from the Villa.

The young man is said to have had free access to Aso Rock through which he connected a lot of people to the presidency for contract purposes and usually got his commission from such contracts.

He was said to have been so close to Diezani that he used to fly in her private jet until the issue of money separated them.

But, it appears people like Dapo and Macmillan might go scot free as Diezani could not afford to probe them as doing so would be like washing one’s dirty linen in public.

…No, I Did Not Touch Her

Rather than enjoying life after his eight years of ruling Benue State peacefully, Gabriel Suswam is battling to clear his name of an alleged battery of his wife, Yemisi, at their London home, where he hibernated after leaving office in May 2015.

It was reported that the former governor pummelled his wife after a heated argument over his alleged mistress, Shidoo, who had a child for him while in office.

Aproko247 gathered from reports that when the former First Lady could not take the punches anymore, she called the police, who arrested her husband and detained him for hours before he was released on bail last week.

However, Suswam, in a purported Facebook post, denied the reports, saying he is at peace with his wife.

“Dear friends, my attention has been drawn to news making rounds on social media that I was arrested in London last week.

“That report is full of mischief and aimed at slandering me and my dear wife. Disregard any news about a squabble between me and my dear wife. We’re fine, enjoy your day. Thank you. GTS,” the former governor purportedly wrote.

The 2015 edition of CardExpo, organised by Intermarc Consulting Limited, owned by Adeyemi Adeyinka, did not live up to expectation.

The event, which took place at the Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos from June 23-25, 2015, from all indications, was described as a huge flop because most of the earlier confirmed guests did not turn up for it.

Aproko247 reliably gathered from few people that graced the occasion that this year’s edition was far below standard set by the past editions.

Investigation by this magazine showed that this may have resulted from the poor publicity given to the event and poor planning, claims which we were unable to independently confirm.

The 2015 edition, its 15th in the series, was focused on Card, Mobile, Identification and Payment called CBN Cashless CardExpo and the theme was ‘Innovation: The Future Of ePayment’.

Our reporter gathered that some of the dignitaries who had earlier indicated their interest in the conference and exhibition, but failed to show up are the CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele; Diamond Bank MD, Uzoma Dozie; Founder GPIJ, John Chaplin; Heritage Bank MD, Ifie Sekibo; and NIBSS MD, Ade Shonubi.

Meanwhile, Aproko247 also learnt that some of the companies that rendered services for the 2015 CardExpo are yet to be paid. It was gathered that Adeyinka allegedly travelled to the United States without offsetting his debts, which has frustrated his creditors.

Rumour mongers claimed the Intermarc Consulting Limited boss went with his alleged mistress. This alleged mistress, we gathered, is the friend of one of his daughters, one Biodun Bakare. This same young lady was the one that was reported few months ago to have almost ruined his family.

However, efforts by Aproko247 to reach Adeyinka for comments on the story were unsuccessful as his phone number was not available when we called.

Much has been said and written on the activities of the Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki, but one story that has consistently escaped from the public glare is the alleged romance between the new lord of Kwara politics and the controversial Kogi-born actress, Lola Alao.

According to a reliable source, the romance between the duo, which started about four years ago, was so hurt that Lola didn’t hesitate to ask the young man based abroad, who she just got married to then, to take a walk.

The source disclosed that Lola Alao got introduced to Bukola Saraki by one Lekan Olaosebikan, a young merry-go-lucky guy from Oro-Ago, Kwara State.

“What was supposed to be a one night affair suddenly developed to a full-blown romance, Bukola got stricken by the Cupid arrow of love that he started sending return tickets to Lola to visit him in Abuja and Ilorin, Kwara State. He also lodged Lola in one of the best hotels in Abuja and spent quality time attending to her needs not minding the fact that Lola was married then,” said the source.

Another source in the know of the romance told First Weekly Magazine exclusively that the lover-boy, Senator Bukola Saraki spared no cost to make Lola happy.

“They both traveled abroad together in the VIP class on international trips and I can tell you that it was the Senator that bought a house for her in the highbrow area of Magodo and also got a first rate interior designer to put the duplex in the type of shape that is “royally befitting,” that was the order given to the decorator,” said our source.

Saraki also bought the actress a brand new jeep to cap it all, with all these shower of love and affection, Lola’s head got turned away and she told her husband of just one year, Olawale Ajibola, who is based in the United States of America, that she wanted to opt out of the marriage.

It will be recalled that Lola Alao was once married to one Dare Ogunlade. Lola later met and married America-based Olawale Ajibola, this marriage did not last long as Olawale complained that Lola did not show enough commitment to the relationship and those in the know revealed that he actually got wind of his wife’s romance with Saraki and confronted her, but that instead of denying, she told him to get lost and Wale decided to pay her back by going after a close friend of her known as Becky and in no time, they got involved and moved on to Canada.

While the two marriages Lola had contracted left her with virtually nothing apart from her 11-year-old daughter, Omowunmi, the romance with Bukola Saraki is said to have brought her tremendous wealth.

A statement issued on Friday in Lagos by organisers of the event, Reality Entertainment, and signed by its president, Kazeem Popoola, disclosed that the decision to handover the mantle to Ramalan, after the demise of the former holder of the position, Ambassador Segun Olusola, was reached after a painstaking search.

Ramalan, a philanthropist and an astute businessman, speaking on his new role said, “I find it a rather unique privilege to have been approached to be patron NBMA in the aftermath of the ‘larger than life’ image and enormous impact of the inimitable, highly revered former Grand patron, the immense Ambassador Segun Olusola. May his soul continue to rest in peace.

“It is indeed a challenge I look forward to, if only to attempt to match what the mercurial icon of the Arts and Media had done. I can only hope to contribute my quota to uphold and further uplift the standard set so far.”

The death of a well-known hotelier in Alagbado area of Lagos State on Monday, Tunji Alaaso, fondly called Alhaji G@y, came as shock to residents of the area.

Before his demise, he was feared in the area, especially those involved in internet scam commonly known as Yahoo Yahoo by locals.

He was believed to have connection with highly placed officials of the Nigerian Police and the Economic and Financial Crimes, EFCC, and uses his contacts to make life unbearable for the internet fraudsters.

Aproko247 gathered that the man was murdered by some unknown men, who had been trailing him for a while now.

It was learnt that those behind his death might have had issues with him while he was alive.

Alaaso was killed around Moshalasi bus stop in Killington, Alagbado area of Lagos.

Some of the Yahoo Boys believed the deceased was also an informant to the police and the EFCC.

Meanwhile, his loyalists have vowed to avenge his murder.

Hardley Apartments, located on Victoria Island, Lagos, and owned by former Super Eagles player, Kanu Nwankwo, has been sealed by the Lagos State Government.

Officials of the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency, LASEPA, shut the hotel on Monday over alleged noise and air pollution.

Briefing journalists in Lagos on Monday, the Director of Enforcement of LASEPA, Kayode Bello, said the former Arsenal FC of England player’s hotel failed to meet up with its regulations, after approaching management of the facility to make adjustments.

Bello disclosed that the power generating sets powering the hotel were emitting thick gaseous emissions from large exhaust pipes facing the road, which could be harmful to the ecosystem.

“Even the sound is going to be more than 45 decibels at night. We want you to comply, that is the reason we are here. We have been on this for more than a year,” Bello stressed.

According to reports, the hotel belonging to the former African Footballer of year and Olympic gold medallist was among the over 25 facilities sealed in the state for similar offences.

LASEPA shut down hotels, churches and mosques in areas like Ikorodu, Ibeju-Lekki, Ketu, Surulere and Victoria Island.

According to a report from the police reaching us, an 18-year-old lady has committed suicide at her lover’s house in Cross River State.

The unfortunate incident reportedly occurred on Saturday, August 8, 2015 at about 2:30pm at Ukpa community in the state.

It was said that the lady (name withheld) went to her boyfriend’s place along with her two brothers, who later left the house.

But while her boyfriend was washing his cloths, the lady allegedly took DD insecticide, which later killed her.

When the deceased’s lover returned to the room, he found her lying on the floor unconscious with the empty container of the insecticide found beside her.

She was quickly taken to the hospital where she died.

Meanwhile, her corpse has since been deposited at the mortuary for autopsy, while the State CID Calabar is investigating the matter.

An insider has narrated some atrocities allegedly committed by controversial former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode, now known as Femi Olukayode.

According to the Elites, which published the story, Femi allegedly beat up his mother some years. The insider, who sounded like a female, further made grievous allegations against the former spokesman to Olusegun Obasanjo and the Goodluck Jonathan campaign organisation.

Akwa Ibom Government Lodge

A report by Punch has revealed how some governors and their aides have turned Government Houses into Sodom and Gomorrah. Below is the story by the newspaper.

More than serving as a place to entertain and accommodate visitors of their respective state governments, many Government Guest Houses and Lodges have become grounds where all sorts of activities take place, especially epic lovemaking sessions, Saturday PUNCH’s investigations reveal.

The trend which has gone on for several years under different administrations usually involves young ladies being brought into such government facilities to ‘entertain’ guests $exually for a fee. While top aides of such state governors recruit such ladies directly for their guests, the job is given out to trusted middlemen in some places. Even though, it is an aberration in some states as governors frown at such practices, it is the norm across most parts of the federation.

In Rivers State for example, a source at the Government House in Port Harcourt told one of our correspondents that arranging beautiful ladies for special guests of the state is nothing unusual. According to the source who asked not to be named, this is part of the entertainment given to such high profile guests on request especially when the state is holding any big event.

“I have been here (Government House) for many years and I know that it is a common thing to bring in beautiful ladies for guests who demand for them,” the source said.

Another source, who is a former government official, told Saturday PUNCH that, “providing girls for special guests at government lodges is not a new thing. It is done everywhere. Most times, these girls are on standby and when they are called, they come and keep the guests (males) company. It is practised everywhere and not only here.”

Though in Osun State, Governor Rauf Aregbesola according to findings by one of our correspondents, is not open to such lifestyle, some former aides under him are known to pass women around and even entertain their guests with such. Osun has no government-owned guest house, so visitors are accommodated at some popular hotels in Osogbo, the state capital.

A source who confided in one of our correspondents disclosed that some former aides of the governor always “imported babes from tertiary institutions around and even from far distance.”

He said, “They pay these girls as high as N50, 000 especially those coming for the first time. Subsequently, they pay less and at times they don’t give the ladies more than N10, 000. These aides have some young male students who help in recruiting these girls for their superiors.”

The situation is a bit worse in Akwa Ibom State where a former governor is alleged to have wasted the state resources frolicking with different women with many of such ‘entertainments’ taking place right inside government-owned facilities. On several occasions, the aides to the governor were said to have arranged between five to 10 women to serve the governor at the same time.

An aide who refused to disclose his identity for security reason, told one of our correspondents that in one of the instances, one of the 10 ladies that were taken to him, developed a headache. According to him, the governor asked that the lady be taken away but not without receiving N500, 000 as ‘appearance fee.’

Apart from the former governor, Saturday PUNCH reliably gathered that some of his commissioners and special advisers built houses in remote areas for their flings in a bid to avoid being seen in hotels. The sources also claimed that some of the women got brand new jeeps for their services.

The governor’s siblings are not left out of the show, too. A source told our correspondent that the governor’s brothers on several occasions imported women from Egypt and other North African countries just to have a nice time. In addition to the government houses and lodges, the big boys in the administration and even visitors to the state also used a very popular hotel in the state as well as other hotels that spread across Uyo.

In Abia State, the recruitment of ladies otherwise known as ‘conference materials’ for the pleasure of top government officials is a very sensitive issue and is usually handled by a syndicate, a top official told one of our correspondents.

The source who pleaded anonymity revealed that the syndicates who handle such matters run it as a big business, maintaining a high degree of confidentiality to avoid embarrassing government. He however said no government lodge in Abia is used to habour such ladies. The source further noted that the practice was no longer in vogue in Abia State owing to the unfavourable dispositions of recent administrations.

According to the source, ‘conference materials’ are usually recruited from tertiary institutions, and could also be school dropouts as well as professionals who do ‘runs’ to survive. He said that such ladies usually drop their contacts with the agents who simply put them on notice any time they are needed.

He said, “Their pay is dependent on the category of government officials or guests they are to entertain and the class of the ladies themselves.

“If the benefiting government official is from the Presidency or is a governor, the fee is usually high but if it is an official with lesser portfolio, the pay is lesser,” he said.

The source also said that the ‘performance’ of the ‘conference material’ could make her get more incentives from the end user as some of them get cars, houses, contracts or more cash for good displays.

“Any ‘conference material’ who impresses her end user can be booked for future engagements. Some of them are even moved to USA, Europe, Dubai and some foreign countries ahead of government officials.

“The type of money involved in the movement of these ladies is awesome. Government officials who are in this habit of patronising ‘conference materials’ waste so much funds on them,” the source said.

On the remuneration of the ladies, the source said, “The agent who recruits them disburses their pay depending on the arrangement.

“Some of the girls are paid N10, 000, some N20, 000, some N100, 000 and even N1m depending on the type of government official involved. Sometimes after assembling the girls, if any of them is not engaged, she is given a token like N10, 000 for transport. We call it ‘appearance fee’ or ‘thank you for coming package.’”

The source further said protocol officers are sometimes involved in the recruitment and movement of the ‘conference materials’ as very close aides of the government officials handle such ‘ jobs’ to avoid exposing their principals.

“What we do at such times is that when we get signals, we just allow the ladies to move on,” he said.

He, however, noted that not all governors condone the use of ‘conference materials’ and that during the administrations of such governors, the business does not thrive. The source also revealed that First Ladies are always ready to fall out with any protocol officer involved in recruiting ladies for their husbands because of the threat it poses to their families.

In Edo State, it was gathered that government guest houses built like private residences in strategic but less populous areas, like the Government Reservation Area in Benin, serve as a regular meeting point for government officials, their friends and a select group of ladies on regular basis.

A reliable source disclosed that some of the buildings have in the past 10 years served as meeting points for the highly-placed users. The ladies, who are mostly undergraduates of tertiary institutions in Edo, are usually transported from their hostels to the guest houses. But such movements, it was gathered, usually occurred at night to avoid attracting attention.

The source explained that the women receive between N10, 000 and N50, 000 or more for their services, depending on negotiations and the source of their connection.

“Entertaining guests with women is not new. That is a normal thing; it’s not peculiar to this state or the South-South. It is everywhere. The girls, who must be very attractive, are selected by special duty or protocol persons. They can earn up to N50, 000 based on their looks or connection.

“There are normal hotels and guest houses where rich men are supplied with girls during weekends but the major ones happen during political campaigns. The girls come in around 7:00pm or 9:00pm and leave as early as 4:00am,” the source said.

Investigations by one of our correspondents revealed that the large number of tertiary institutions in Enugu State serves as a reliable pool for protocol officers and governors’ personal assistants, whenever there is a need to provide young girls for their principals in the government house.

Enugu ranks as one of the states with the largest population of young girls in the country. It is home to several tertiary institutions like the Enugu State University of Technology, Institute of Management Technology, University of Nigeria, Enugu State College of Education, Caritas University, Godfrey Okoye University and Renaissance University, among others.

And, in an era where most female undergraduates combine their studies with ‘runs,’ or prostitution, it is not surprising that these protocol officers find it very easy to procure ladies for their bosses.

Sources at the government house informed one of our correspondents that so many girls have “made it” by associating with political office holders and their cronies since the current democratic dispensation commenced in 1999.

In fact, one of our correspondents learnt that these ‘runs girls’ go out of their way to cultivate the acquaintance of the protocol officers and Personal assistants of political office holders, who give out the “jobs.” It was gathered that most female students look forward to an “invitation” to attend any of the exclusive parties where the selected girls are passed around to the ‘big shots.’

According to a source, who is close to the corridors of power in the state, girls who participate in such activities are rewarded handsomely.

“These girls don’t take home anything less than N50, 000 just for a night, and that is when it is just a small party.

“In fact, the normal take home package for serious hook-ups ranges from N100, 000. The fee can even rise much higher when the girl is able to cultivate a personal relationship with the concerned patron. It is a known fact that from such casual acquaintance, some girls have been known to acquire choice property, cars, shops and even good jobs,” the source said.

A former governor in the state is believed to have rewarded several young ladies with car gifts for their ‘intimate services,’ of course.

The source further explained that the protocol officers, and the PAs, usually establish contact with the young girls through ‘links,’ who are usually guys, or more experienced girls who have participated in such activities in the past. Such ‘links’ abound in most of the student residences, and hostels that litter the Coal City. The Government House source explained that the girls are usually camped in the more upscale hotels whenever the VIPs require their services.

In fact, according to the source, the protocol officers and PAs have established long standing business relationships with the managers of the concerned hotels, to the extent that rooms are reserved ahead of time, whenever the need arises.

The story is not different in Ondo State where guests are usually entertained with different kinds of girls during visits. A source at the Government House disclosed that the guests are usually accommodated at the VIP section of the Government House at Alagbaka, Akure, the state capital.

According to the source, the entertainment of guests depends on the preference of the visitors, saying some like to be entertained with women while others simply like to just drink.

“Anytime there are personal guests for the governor or a guest who comes on an official visit, they are usually lodged at the VIP Lodge of the Government House and if there is no space at the Government House, they would be lodged at any of the standard hotels in town.

“The guests would be entertained with whatever they prefer. Some of them do come along with their girls while some will ask us to provide them with girls to spend the night with. So the ladies will be invited to come and accompany them,” the source explained.

The source however said in most cases, the guests pay the girls they sleep with, noting that the amount charged depends on the negotiating power of the two parties but the protocol officers may sometimes offer the ladies transport fares while the ‘client’ pays the ‘service charge.’

“That has been the trend right from the days of the military administrators; it was even worse at that time than it is now. During that period, it was government that paid whatever amount each girl collected, not the guest but no one can say specifically the actual amount spent on these girls,” the source added.

In Cross River State, investigation showed that the use of government lodges as slaughter zones for girls has been a known trend since the military era.

Under the guise of ushers, young female undergraduates are usually camped at top government apartments such as the Presidential Lodge, Dan Archibong Lodge and Solomon Uno Lodge. During the era of the past administration in the state, our correspondent learnt that a young lady (name withheld), was in charge of recruiting these girls under a clandestine sub-head in the protocol unit of the governor’s office.

It was also gathered that these ladies, who are paid between N20, 000 and N50, 000 depending on the dignitaries they are meant to service, were also camped in two major high brow hotels in Calabar.

Some privately owned properties in the State Housing Estate in Calabar Municipality are also identified to have been used by top officials during the past administration.

A government source, who preferred anonymity, told one of our correspondents that these girls appear as ushers during the day whenever there are big events but are used to satisfy the sexual desire of willing dignitaries at night.

“Those that are not chosen by these dignitaries at night are usually paid around N20, 000 while those who follow them get more. There is this lady that was in charge of them during the era of the last administration. You can easily identify the girls because they are usually packed together in one of the government buses in the guise of being ushers,” he said. While many aides of governors in different states refused to comment on the findings, the Chief Press Secretary to Cross River State governor, Christian Ita, said the governor was too busy to engage in such a ‘mess.’ He added that there is no time to engage in such frivolity.

He said, “The resources here are well utilised; they are not meant for frivolities like that. We don’t even have a lodge here. The one we once had has been commercialised. It’s a hotel now, a business. We don’t have such experience in Cross River.

“Both the former and the current governors are too serious to be doing that. We go to work by 7:30am and get back around 3am. The governor is serious-minded. We are focused on moving the state forward, so there is no truth in that.”

Also, the CPS to the Edo State governor, Peter Okhiria, said such practice does not exist in the state.

He said, “That’s a bad story. We don’t have such experience here. The governor stays in the lodge with his beautiful wife and he is very serious-minded. He has a lot of work to do and he’s always thinking of how to move the state forward.”

Likewise, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Media in Enugu State, Louiz Amoka, expressed surprise at the development, as he said it was not happening in the state governor’s lodge.

“Haba! What kind of story is that? Come and do the investigation. You will discover that such is not happening here,” he said.

The Commissioner for Information, Akwa Ibom State, Aniekan Umanah, said, “I don’t know about that. We’re not aware of that. The governor is very busy doing his job of governing the state. Akwa Ibom State is not involved in such. Nothing like that is happening here.”

Also,the Chief Press Secretary to Ondo State Governor, Mr. Eni Akinsola, denied that the state government facilities were used for such activities.

In a text message he sent to one of our correspondents, Akinsola said, “I have not heard such report about anybody in Ondo State. All I am sure of is that nobody uses the Governor’s house as a sex haven and nobody can turn it into such.

“The lodge is one building where the governor and his wife live. Other buildings in the Government House are for house functionaries of government and their wives. It is therefore impossible for anyone to turn any of such buildings into a sex haven or any other anti-social vices.

“For those who are qualified for government lodges, they live with their families. It will therefore be unimaginable for such to happen. The governor, as a responsible family man, has been and remains a role model to his aides and other government officials in modesty and decency. For such lurid tales, count Ondo State out.”

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has beamed its searchlight on a top employee of Access Bank. According to information gathered by us, Angela Ebagua, wife of billionaire businessman, Jide Omokore of Atlantic Energy Limited, is running helter skelter to save her face from ridicule.

Her husband has been in the news for allegedly looting the tax payers’ money, especially during the immediate past administration of Goodluck Jonathan.

The anti-graft agency believes she must have been part of her husband alleged looter fund, though some of the people close to her say she might be clean.

Her close associate maintain that Angela has a flourishing banking career and has received many awards and commendations in the job.

But others claim there is no way she may not have taken part in her husband’s loot. A source was quoted in one of the reports online that, “She has only acted on instruction given to her by her husband. Her passport being seized by the EFCC is illegal and unlawful, if you have anything with the husband, it’s the hubby that should face the music and not Angela.”

Angela, a former beauty queen, got a B.Sc. Degree in Economics at the University of Benin, an MBA (Marketing) at Enugu State University, and M.Sc. (Investment Management) at Cass Business School of City University, UK.

She is also an alumnus of the Harvard Business School’s Program for Management Development and the Institute for management development (IMD) Lausanne, Switzerland.

Reports reaching us confirm that the newly formed Guild of Soft-Sell Publishers (GoSP), set up by some thoroughbred and experienced journalists, paid a courtesy visit to the publisher of Encomium Magazine, Kunle Bakare, who is regarded as one of the fathers of the genre of journalism in Nigeria.

The group met with the multiple award-winning veteran journalist on Saturday, August 22, 2015 at his office in Ogba, Lagos.

The visit, which was on the request of Bakare, who was informed of the emergence of a new guild, had in attendance all members if GoSP.

At the brief but incisive meeting, the new guild highlighted reasons for forming a new group which are;

1. To redefine soft-sell journalism in Nigeria
2. To reawaken the spirit of the genre of journalism in Nigeria
3. To always be fair in the reportage of stories as stipulated by the founding fathers of journalism
4. To ensure members remain on newsstand regularly as against what is being practised by some publishers at the moment
5. To encourage young publishers to succeed in the noble profession amongst others.

In his remarks, Bakare, whose tutelage most members of GoSP learnt the trade, applauded reason for floating the guild. He admitted that the soft-sell genre of Nigeria journalism needs urgent reorientation. He pointed out that there are fake and half-baked journalists in the industry and charged members of the new group to rid the industry of unqualified journalists rubbishing the image of the profession.

He, however, advocated for a united union, saying the industry is too small to have fractions.

GoSP stressed that though it does not make its criteria too rigid, but members are admitted based on high level of integrity, professionalism, years of experience (at least seven years in the newsroom) and importantly, being on the newsstand regularly.

The guild acknowledged that publishing is not an easy task in Nigeria, especially with the advent of online journalism, but the group was formed to encourage young publishers to succeed in their call.

It was disclosed that apart from the fact that most all its members are graduates of reputable higher institutions, seminars would be organised to retrain members to keep them abreast of new trends in journalism.

Meanwhile, since the GoSP was formed last week, prominent Nigerians have continued to welcome the development. Also, more publishers of magazines have joined the group including Access Weekly, published by Sola Olugbemiro who is also the CEO Nigeria Media Nite Awards; Exclusive Magazine, published by Omooba Damilare; Newsreel Magazine, published by respected journalist Thompson John; Photostory published by veteran photojournalist, Bolaji Olasunkanmi; and Megastar by veteran Photo journalist, Ifetayo Adeniyi.

Other members of GoSP are Femi Oyewale of Sahara Weekly, Ayobami Adedeji of UrbanLife Magazine, Ola Muhammed of Islanders International, Joshua Uloko of City Pride, Bunmi Obarotimi of Society Gazzette, Seun Fabiyi of Beth News, Foluso Samuel of The Society Nigeria, Ada Enekwa of Blissful Affairs, Sunday Adeyemi of Society Herald and Bamidele Adeyemi of Conquest Magazine.

The guild temporarily operates now from 33, Thomas Salako Street, Ogba, Lagos.

A searchlight has been beamed on the close friend of former governor of Lagos State, Babatunde Fashola, Tunji Olowolafe, who was one of the major contractors in the administration of Fashola.

Olowolafe’s company, Deux Project Limited, was said to have benefitted in the immediate past government of his bosom friend.

Information concerning contracts awarded to Olowolafe by Fashola was revealed by Lagos State Public Procurement Agency on the Lagos State website and since then, residents of Lagos have been calling for the head of Olowolafe. Also, the call to probe Fashola has intensified.

Contracts were reportedly awarded to company running into billions of Naira. It was said that Deux Project Limited received about N139 million to drill two boreholes at Lagos House, Ikeja, Lagos. Also, about N300 million was reportedly paid by Lagos State Government under the former governor to handle relocation of cables belonging to the Power Holding Company of Nigeria at the Lagos State Teaching Hospital, LASUTH, Ikeja.

According to further reports, Olowolafe’s company got N220million for Lagos State University College of Medicine Facility Management.

Another employee of Arik Air has been apprehended by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, for drug trafficking.

On Monday, August 24, 2015, one Chika Egwu was arrested at the London Heathrow Airport with about 20kg of substance believed to be cocaine.

The latest arrest is of a catering loader with the airline, Ikechukwu Chibuzor Oliver. He was nabbed for being an accomplice to Chika.

Oliver, 35, reportedly confessed that Chika introduced him into the white powder business and was expecting to get N1.2 million from the deal.

The NDLEA, in a statement, disclosed that the Abia State-born graduate of Business Administration places the substance into meal packs meant for the passengers and then transfer it to Chika while onboard.

“Whenever Chika gives me the drug, I will hide it in catering supplies. Chika knows where to collect the drug inside the flight. They pay me N400,000 per bag. I was expecting N1.2m for the three bags that I smuggled into the aircraft,” Oliver was quoted in the statement.

NDLEA claimed the “quantity and estimated street value of the cocaine is over N100m”, while the “latest Range Rover (Land Rover) car belonging to the prime suspect parked on the airline’s premises had been moved to the NDLEA office as exhibit.”

“As part of investigation, the rented apartment of Chika on Pastor Ojediran Street Ejigbo, Lagos was searched by operatives of the NDLEA. He lives there with the mother and siblings while his wife and children are based in Canada,” the statement said.
